Mackenzie Gooden
This a leaf from a tree in my front yard. It has a smooth kind of waxy layer covering it called a
Cuticle layer.
The cuticle layer is a non-cellular layer that covers the epidermis of the leaf, and helps to keep the leaf from drying out.
