On this cookie, is a group of ants. Ants show altruistic behavior by which its behavior benefits other organisms, at a cost to itself. Ants live their whole lives caring for their queen, constructing and protecting their nest, foraging for food, and tending the larvae. The ants could die doing anyone of these things, but do it anyways for their queen.

This photo was also taken at the Pittsburgh Zoo. It shows a polar bear living in his cage. This polar bear shows an adaption of an animal to its new habitat. A lot of animals might have to adapt to new surroundings, either because they were captured or because their home was destroyed by humans, or mother nature. This polar bear has to adapt to when it eats, how far it can go, and temperature changes.

This photo has a bee, making a nest in a jar. Mutualism is when an association between organisms of two different species in which each member benefits. Beekeepers will do the same thing as the photo above. They catch bees and give them a safe place to build their nests. And in return, the humans get the honey the bees produced.

This photo is of a cut down tree. It shows all the inner rings of a tree. Cambium is a lateral meristem in vascular plants, including the vascular cambium and cork cambium, that forms parallel rows of cells resulting in secondary tissues. Cambium in a tree is the last layer, or outer layer of the tree, before the bark.

This photo is recently plucked corn. Corn is a C4 plant. C4 plants It is named for the 4 carbon atoms present in the first product of carbon fixation in these plants. Since corn is a C4 plant, it can grow at very hot temperatures and won't loose a whole lot of water.
